Big EU tenders coming this year to boost labour market activity and employment
Yesterday, the ministry highlighted this year's dumping of tenders for SMEs (with a €450 billion budget), and today it has signalled a budget for labour market activity and employment. The reason for the 2030 date for the latter is that the 2021-2027 cycle has a deadline for the actual use of resources.
In its announcement on Wednesday, the NGM recalls that there are 1 million more people in work than in 2010, and the employment rate is 74.7%, above the EU average. It also sets a target for GDP growth of around 4% this year, and for the activity rate of the 15-64 age group to rise from 78% to 85%.
To this end, the government is providing more than HUF 460 billion to the economy and businesses through the EDIOP Plus programme's priorities to boost activity and employment.
Three-quarters of the funding will be allocated to programmes for jobseekers and inactive people.
The prioritisation of programmes to help domestic jobseekers find work demonstrates the government's expectation that businesses affected by labour shortages should primarily employ Hungarian workers, the ministry stresses.
The Ministry of National Economy aims to announce almost all of the funds to increase employment and activity as soon as possible, i.e. this year, and to use them to help achieve the growth targets, the statement concludes.
