InterContinental brings new hotel to Budapest

IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced the opening of its first European Holiday Inn & Suites hotel in Budapest. The 170-room Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will be located in the 14th district, directly above the Puskás Ferenc Stadium metro station, as part of the Centrale multifunctional complex. The opening is scheduled for the second half of 2026, with Chain Bridge Ventures Ltd. and Mogotel Hotel Group as partners.

Set to open in late 2026, within a new mixed-use development, the 170-room property will be ideally situated in the XIV district of Budapest, Hungary, directly above the bustling Puskas Ferenc Stadion metro station and intermodal transport hub.

With more than three million annual visitors, the area is renowned as Budapest’s main sports, entertainment and cultural hub. The country’s national football stadium – the Puskas Arena – and the Papp Laszlo events hall will directly neighbour Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale, with the HUNGEXPO Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre and City Park museum district also nearby.

Facilities at the hotel will include 25 long-stay suites – each complete with kitchenettes, dining area and sofa beds to cater to needs of mid-to-long-term staying guests as well as families – Open Lobby, restaurant, lobby bar, meeting room and fitness centre. Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will be complete with key brand hallmarks including Kids Stay and Eat Free.

The Centrale mixed-use development will further contain a retail hub, a food experience hall and premium offices, which will complement the hotel and service its guests.

Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale joins IHG’s impressive – and growing – portfolio of properties in Hungary, including InterContinental Budapest, Holiday Inn Budapest – Budaörs, Crown Plaza Budapest, Vignette Collection Verno House Budapest and Kimpton Budapest which is expected to open later this year. The property will also join the 127-key Kimpton Budapest, which is set to open later in 2024.
