Gebrüder Weiss expands base planned for Páty

Portfolio
Gebrüder Weiss (GW), a prominent global freight forwarding and logistics company, has decided to expand the under-construction PT2 hall at HelloParks Páty, where the company has already signed an agreement for 22,000 square metres. The company's soon-to-be-occupied rental space will thus increase to a total of 32,000 square meters, making it the largest player in HelloParks' customer portfolio.

Under the terms of the recent agreement, the company will occupy more than 76% of the 42,000 square metre industrial site, which is due to be completed in the second quarter of 2024, following the move-in scheduled for the summer.

HelloParks continues the construction of its 8th speculative development in Hungary with the PT2 warehouse. It will be the company's first building to be powered exclusively by a heat pump system. In 2023, the company handed over four new buildings with a total area of 174,000 square metres, with the completion of halls MG3 in Maglód and FT6 and FT2 in Fót, in addition to PT1 in Páty.

They currently have three developments underway, one in Alsónémedi and two in HelloParks Páty, where the construction of the 42,000 square metre Big Box type PT3 has already started, in addition to PT2, which will be delivered in the second quarter.

A total of 106,000 square metres of the three industrial properties have found tenants so far. Alongside Gebrüder Weiss, the German chain dm took over its 18,000 sqm warehouse in PT1 in November 2023, followed by DHL Supply Chain, part of the DHL Group, which moved into the same building in early 2024, with 20,000 sqm of space, and TRANSDANUBIA will take a total of 24,000 sqm of warehouse and office space in PT3, which will be completed in the last quarter of the year.

Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG, headquartered in Lauterach, Austria, is a global logistics company providing comprehensive services, employing a staff of circa 8,600 and operating with 180 company-owned facilities in 34 countries. It posted net revenue of 2.47 billion euros in 2023, down from 3 billion in 2022.

With a record investment volume of 187 million euros, Gebrüder Weiss substantially expanded its network in the German and US markets, as well as South-Eastern Europe. "Following the downturn in global trade and signs of a recession, Gebrüder Weiss expects a slight economic upturn in the second half of 2024, thereby translating into more positive revenue development fed by the success of individual national companies," it said in a statement last week.
