New expressway to be built in Hungary

In 2023, a government decision suspended the preparations for the construction of the expressway between Pécs and Szigetvár, and the final design was not completed. However, the project has now been resurrected.

The new road section will have two lanes of two-way traffic with a paved shoulder on both sides and a median divider, according to the building permit.

The motorway will be built at a design speed of 110 km/h for 37 kilometres.

According to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Construction and Transport (ÉKM), a conditional public procurement procedure for the preparation of the plan will be launched by 31 March at the latest.
