"Get out of this country" – János Lázár sends a harsh message to Strabag
In a Facebook post on Friday, János Lázár wrote that the ministry was unable to open the closed section of the M30 motorway to traffic today.
We apologise to everyone for this,
wrote the minister.
In recent days, Lázár has posted a lot about the Austrian company, and on Thursday he posted a video titled "They fucked us over!" on his Békéscsaba forum. In the video, he claimed that the M30 motorway, closed since February 2024, would not be handed over on 31 October because Strabag had "fucked over" the government. He believes that it was a serious mistake to trust the road construction company when they said they would finish the work by 31 October.
Ten days ago, the Ministry lifted Strabag's confidentiality obligation regarding the section of the M30 motorway between Miskolc and Tornyosnémeti, allowing the company to provide information about the delay. When we contacted Strabag about this, the company said that it had not committed to the deadline set by the ministry and communicated to the public, as it considered this deadline to be professionally unreasonable.
We were never able to make an official commitment to this due to its professional unfoundedness,
According to the company, it "completed all professionally and technologically feasible tasks on time", beginning work immediately after the site was handed over, despite the ministry only issuing the permit once demolition had begun.
According to the company, they kept the ministry informed of the technical progress and status of consolidation during implementation. However, based on the latest measurements, the rate of subsidence was greater than expected and slower than anticipated. Consequently, it was not possible to construct the track structure in accordance with the technical specifications.
According to János Lázár's post, the contractor promised to rectify the poorly executed work by 31 October 2024. "The company did not keep this promise," he wrote.
Strabag has gotten involved in the Hungarian election campaign. We know for a fact that they are supporting the Tisza Party financially and by commissioning opinion polls. It’s a shame that Strabag values Péter Magyar more highly than the people who want to use the M30 motorway.
Lázár suggested that the company and "other money-hungry, colonialist, liberal companies and oligarchs" should have a plan in place in case Fidesz wins the election. "I recommend that Strabag urgently completes the work under warranty and stays out of politics.
And then get out of this country,
he concluded the post.
We asked Strabag to respond to the post. We will update our article as soon as we receive a response.
