COVID-19 in Hungary: fatalities hit another daily high

Hungarian authorities confirmed 4,219 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infection yesterday, bringing the total to 90,988. The disease claimed the lives of 90 people, most of them elderly or chronic patients, in the past 24 hours, the official government website said.

In the past 24 hours, 4,219 Hungarian citizens tested positive for the virus a new daily high. The total number of confirmed cases since March is now 90,988.

The death toll rose to 2,063 after the disease claimed the lived of 90, mostly elderly or chronic, patients yesterday. This is another record high in daily fatalities.

Of the more than 90,000 official cases, 21,232 people have been declared to have recovered by Tuesday, while the number of active cases is 67,693.

There are currently 4,871 coronavirus patients being treated in hospital, with 355 of them on ventilators.

More than 17,600 tests have been carried out in the past 24 hours, with the ratio of positive tests remaining above 20% for several days now.
