From Wednesday (13 March), the wholesale gross list price of petrol will be lowered by HUF 3 per litre, which is expected to be reflected in pump prices. Mid-week, the purchase price of diesel will remain unchanged. In terms of average prices, we can expect the following from 13 March 2024:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 619/litre
  • Diesel: HUF 641/litre

This is how fuel prices changed in Hungary since the start of 2023. The price of petrol was last this high in early October and the price of diesel is back to where it was in early February this year and early November 2023 before that.

The price cut takes the price of petrol HUF 49 (8.6%) higher than at the end of 2023, while the price of diesel is HUF 48 (8.1%) higher. Comparing current prices to the end of 2022 may make us nostalgic, but looking further back is not a pleasant experience.
