Price of diesel to be lowered in Hungary on Wednesday

Portfolio
Hungarian energy group Mol is to lower the wholesale gross list price of diesel and keep the price of petrol unchanged on Wednesday (24 April), fuel price tracking site holtankoljak.hu reported on Monday.

The price of diesel will be slashed by HUF 8 per litre on Wednesday, while the price of petrol will not change. Accordingly, we should find the following (average) prices at the pumps:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 650 / litre
  • diesel: HUF 639 / litre

The price of petrol remains 14.0% or HUF 80 higher than at the end of 2023, while the price of diesel will be 7.8% or HUF 46 per litre higher.

For the first time since 2 August 2023, the price of diesel dropped under the price of petrol last Friday (19 April) and on Wednesday a litre of petrol will be HUF 11 more expensive than a litre of diesel, the widest (negative) gap since 28 July last year (HUF -14).
