The city of Mohács, South Hungary has built a HUF 680 million market hall to replace an earlier open-air market, Mayor József Szekó said.
There was huge demand for the new building in place of the old and dilapidated market, Szekó said, adding that the more attractive environment will aid local farmers, increase both supply and demand, and contribute to growth of the local economy.

The net 3,100 sqm building took eighteen months to build. It has a parking lot on top, contains freezers and storerooms for fruit and vegetable, and also includes administrative offices and a first-aid room.

The market hall, which used about HUF 650 million in EU and national funding through the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme (EDIOP/GINOP), will open on Thursday.
