COVID-19 in Hungary: 275 new cases, 13 dead

Hungarian authorities confirmed 275 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases yesterday, increasing the total since last March to 804,987. The death toll rose to 29,774 after the disease claimed the lives of 13 patients. There are currently 837 coronavirus patents in hospital, with 90 of them on ventilator. Vaccination uptake reached 5,206,951, and nearly 4 million people have received the second jab already.

There were 275 new cases identified in the past 24 hours in Hungary, slightly more than in the preceding days and also exceeding last Wednesday’s, increasing the seven-day rolling average.

There were 13 fatalities, mostly elderly or chronic patients, increasing the death toll to 29,774. This statistic continued its declining trend, and the seven-day average has also decreased further.

There are currently 837 coronavirus patents in hospital, with 90 of them on ventilator. The numbers are down 110 and 10, respectively, from the previous day.

The number of Hungarians vaccinated is 5,206,951, and 3,694,602 of them have already received a second dose as well. This translates to vaccinaton coverage of 53.3% and 37.8%, respectively. So far, 5,248,000 people have registered to be vaccinated, and 91% of them have received at least one jab.

The number of tets applied in the past 24 hours was 25,148. The positivity rate was just 1.1%, and the one-week average fell to 2.1%.
