Fuel prices not to change in Hungary on Friday

Motor fuel prices will not be changed in Hungary on Friday (15 March), which is also a national holiday, fuel price tracking site holtankoljak.hu reported on Wednesday.

As of today, the wholesale gross list price of petrol has been trimmed by HUF 3 per litre, while the purchase price of diesel remained unchanged. With no change planned for Friday, we should find the following (average) retail prices at the pumps all week:

  • 95-octane petrol: HUF 619/litre
  • Diesel: HUF 641/litre

Even after today's price cut the price of petrol is HUF 49 (8.6%) higher than at the end of 2023, while the price of diesel is HUF 48 (8.1%) higher. Comparing current prices to the end of 2022 may make us nostalgic, but looking further back is not a pleasant experience.
