At present, the most exciting daily number is that of vaccinations, as the government has tied the gradual easing of lockdown measures to certain milestones. As expected, Hungary has not reached 4 million vaccinations by Friday morning. Speaking on public radio this morning, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said

Today and tomorrow we'll certainly have four million [people vaccinated against COVID-19] therefore we will put in place the [new] rules tomorrow morning.

As of today, the number of people vaccinated in Hungary is 3,913,550, of whom 1,880,897 have already received both doses.

The number of new cases is 2,365, so the seven-day rolling average decreased further and is the lowest since mid-February.

Daily fatalities also continue to decrease as 182 coronavirus patients died in the past 24 hours, increasing the total to 27,540.

Meanwhile, the falling trend in the number of people in hospital and on ventilators has been broken as both numbers rose slightly from the previous day. There are currently 5,937 coronavirus patients being treated in hospital and 677 of them receive artificial ventilation.

The seven-day average positivity rate of tests is now just 11%, indicating a slow receding of the virus. Although still too high for the pandemic to be under control, the positivity rate has been declining.
